Local non-profit WizChinese will host a Lunar New Year Fundraiser for Asian health research today at 2 p.m. at the Lowell and Bryant intersection in Palo Alto.
WizChinese is a local non-profit whose mission is to serve Chinese families in the greater Palo Alto community.
Due to the recent COVID-19 surge, WizChinese is unable to host their annual Palo Alto Lunar New Year fair at the Mitchell Park community center. Instead, volunteers will pass out red envelopes to children at the “Trees of Gratitude” located at the intersection of Lowell and Bryant streets.
“Giving and receiving red envelopes is a big part of Lunar New Year celebration,” stated Lily Chiu, president of WizChinese. “We are hoping our community, especially the Chinese community, will participate in this fundraising event by giving a red envelope to support Asian Health Research.”
According to WizChinese, those who donate more than $20 will be entered into a raffle for mugs, between $50-$99 a “delicious sauce,” and over $100 a box of Dim Sum foods.
“100% of the funds raised by the campaign will go to Stanford Asian Health Research and Education,” Chiu stated.
