Who are we? Known for our in-depth explorations of community issues, Verde has been Palo Alto High School’s features and news magazine since our first issue in fall 1999. As students, we broaden our outlooks, tackle real-world issues and work with unfettered passion. As journalists…
We pledge to bring our audience the news they didn’t know they needed, encompassing issues as diverse as our student body; to cover the untold and pressing stories of our community, undeterred by controversy or taboo; to do so with journalistic integrity, exercising the fullest extent of our First Amendment rights and California Ed Code 48907. To push the envelope of student journalism, supporting and learning from our peers.
Our goals… looking forward, we strive to mobilize technology to amplify our stories and expand our audience. In turn, we hope our writers improve their digital literacy and our readers receive a more interactive and refreshing experience. As we continue to be unapologetically purposeful in our writing, we aim for a greater array of perspectives. Finally, we seek to increase our interaction with our community to reflect our ever-evolving student body.
