President Donald Trump’s administration appointed Elon Musk as head of the Department of Government Efficiency. Musk is the CEO of Tesla, owner of X (formerly known as Twitter) and founder of SpaceX. Since 2025, Musk has been an advisor to President Trump however, many people disagree with Musk’s ideas and work. Before his current role in politics, Musk had no prior political experience, his background was exclusively in business and technology. Some believe his business skills will improve the government, while others worry he has too much power. We asked the Palo Alto High School community about their thoughts on business and politics: should they be mixed for modernizing government efficiency, or kept separate?
