Concerts for K-pop band BTS at Stanford Stadium will provide a total of around $60,300 in revenue for Palo Alto High School’s Associated Student Body, according to Paly ASB treasurer Aeshaan Singhal.
The price of a full-day parking spot at Paly is $60, while Stanford charges $80 for any given concert day. BTS was slated to play for three days. Although the fundraiser is hosted at Palo Alto High School, parking revenue is split between Paly ASB and Gunn’s Student Executive Council.
Data collected by Paly ASB showed $15,000-$20,000 in profits per night. Payment was collected in the form of cash and GoFan sales. All proceeds from the concert parking will go back into the student body, according to Singhal.
“This is a fundraiser, so all of the funds would go to the ASB general account, and so this is always used to fund Spirit Week,” Singhal said. “Ultimately, ASB is a net zero entity, so all the money that we raise goes back into the student body, so we just go towards planning fun events, things like that, so it’s a not-for-profit fundraiser.”
Students should expect to see more events throughout the school year and an improved student experience, according to Singhal.
“Hopefully, this extra cash flow can allow us to put on a few more events throughout the year and have a larger spirit week as well,” Singhal said. “Overall, I think it’s just going to contribute to a better student life and a better student culture.”
