On June 23rd 1972 Richard Nixon signed into law that “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance…” This revolutionary idea forever changed high school sports. Girls sports teams began to appear all over the nation but many sports like football and wrestling were still male dominated. Even today there are only two girls on the Paly wrestling team.
