The Palo Alto High School Student Body is making final preparations for a Winter Dance that will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, March 2 in the small gym.
According to ASB commissioner Shannon Zhao, the event is masquerade-themed and attendees are encouraged — but not required — to wear masks. Attire is semi-formal: Zhao recommends dresses with casual sneakers for girls, and jeans with button-up shirts for boys.
“Given the success rate of our previous spring and winter dances, we weren’t originally going to have a dance during the second semester,” Zhao said. “However, three of our freshman officers really wanted another dance this semester.”
According to Adora Zheng, freshman class president and event organizer, student input was overwhelmingly in favor of the idea.
“We had surveys, and a lot of freshman showed a lot of inter- est,” Zheng said. “We’ve heard it verbally and online.”
Tickets for the Winter Dance will be sold on the Quad, in front of the Media Arts Center, online from the Paly Webstore at palywebstore.myschoolcentral.com and at the door of the small gym during the event. They are free for ASB card holders and cost $5 for everyone else. Ticket sales begin Feb. 19 and close March 2.
