Spring is in the air

On an overcast morning on Feb. 2 in Punxsutawney, Pa, Groundhog Phil failed to see his shadow, suggesting an early spring. At Palo Alto High School, flowers blossom, birds chirp and students come out to play in the sun. Here’s a look at some of our early signs of spring.

Pink cherry blossoms bloom gracefully outside the World Languages building.
A swimmer practices the butterfly stroke during afternoon practice.
A squirrel basks in the afternoon sun on a pine tree near the math building.
A House Finch perches in a fruit tree outside the library.
Junior George He lunges forward to hit the ball during tennis practice
Seniors De’Antay Williams and Larry Allen flex their muscles as they walk out of the weight room.
Junior Derek Young leaps up to catch a frisbee while playing with his friends on the quad.
